    OSHA’s Top 10 List for 2015 Released

Common Safety Violations in the WorkplaceThe Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recently released its report on the top 10 most commonly cited workplace violations that occurred in 2015.  Even with safety, health and practice standards implemented in workplaces that are meant to protect the lives of employees, hardworking men and women are injured on the job every day. Injuries in the workplace can result in physical pain, trauma and sometimes, even death. Far too often, the physical suffering of an injured employee is coupled with other common consequences of workplace injuries: emotional and financial difficulties.

Although OSHA requires employers to maintain certain safety and health standards, there are still major deficits. One of the most commonly cited safety violations in 2015 was the failure of employers to provide proper fall protection for their employees. Another common citation was the absence of personal protective and lifesaving equipment. These violations occur in workplaces where conscientious employees labor to support their families and in doing so, are quite literally putting their lives on the line.
OSHA’s report details all 10 violations thoroughly. The data highlights the presence of lackluster training programs and requirements, toxic and hazardous substance exposure, improper fall protection systems and criteria and more. To see the full report, visit this link.

OSHA’s findings make one thing very clear: the lives of workers are often at risk in workplaces that lack the proper and ethical safety and health procedures. Even worse, there are worksites all over the United States that have been cited for violating respiratory protection, hazard communication and machine guarding safety standards. Although OSHA acts to protect employees, life-changing accidents and injuries still happen.
