About

Michael Malvey is a Senior Partner at Galfand Berger. Since joining the firm in 2002, Mike has handled hundreds of cases within the personal injury department, including automobile accidents, premises liability cases, construction site accidents, products liability matters, and medical malpractice cases. Mike has personally brought to verdict or settlement over 500 cases, helping his clients obtain nearly $100 million dollars in combined recoveries. Working with his team of Galfand Berger attorneys, Mike has helped the firm obtain some of the largest, multi-million-dollar client recoveries in Pennsylvania history.

Proficient in Spanish, Mike also proudly represents members of the Latino and Hispanic communities throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Mike is currently serving as Chairperson of the Board of Directors for Esperanza Immigration Legal Services, a non-profit organization dedicated to offering low-cost legal services to immigrants and their families in the Philadelphia area. Mike also volunteers to serve as an Arbitrator and Judge Pro Tempore for the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, has performed pro bono work for the Legal Clinic for the Disabled, and has organized Galfand Berger’s annual food drive, which has donated over two tons of food to a local charity.

Mike is an experienced trial attorney, having successfully brought numerous jury trials to verdicts as well as appearing before Arbitration panels, appellate courts, and at hearings throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Mike also has a successful track record of handling appellate matters before the Superior Court of Pennsylvania, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.

In 2020, Mike argued before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania in the matter of Bourgeois v. Snow Time, Inc., resulting in a rare 7-0 unanimous opinion in his client’s favor, and in the process helped expand the rights of injured individuals throughout Pennsylvania.

Although his focus is on representing victims of injuries, Mike has also dedicated his career to protecting worker’s rights.  He has successfully represented Unions and their Members at the Arbitration, District Court, and Circuit Court levels.  He regularly teaches classes at Local Unions and District Conferences to help them protect their members in the event of a workplace injury.

Mike’s accomplishments led to his addition to the Pennsylvania Rising Star’s list ten times since 2006. Only the top 2.5% of all attorneys practicing in Pennsylvania share this achievement. To visit Mike’s profile at Superlawyers.com, click here.

Mike has lived in Philadelphia his entire life, where he also attended college and law school. Mike’s talent for litigation was recognized early in his career, as he was awarded a Barrister’s Award for being the top student in his class in Temple Law School’s nationally recognized Trial Advocacy Program. Mike is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Philadelphia Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Association for Justice, the American Association for Justice, and the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association.
