  • CPSC Finds Children’s Robes in Violation of Flammability Standards

Philadelphia Product Liability Lawyers discuss violation of Flammability StandardsKreative Kids, Inc. is complying with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and recalling several children’s robes that have been found in violation of federal flammability standards. The robes pose a burn hazard to children, so the manufacturer and CPSC are working together to get them off the market before any children are seriously or fatally injured.

Although the label on the robes claims that they conform to federal flammability standards, the CPSC has found this to be false. As a result, the commission has pulled eight different styles, all of which are made from 100% polyester. The robes were sold at some specialty stores across the country as well as online through Amazon between September 2013 and April 2017 for under $20.

Clothing is recalled for being in violation of federal flammability standards when it is made from materials that can light on fire too easily or go up in flames too quickly once a fire has started. The most common type of children’s clothing to violate federal flammability standards is pajamas and other type of nightwear.

The recalled robes come in sizes 4-6 as well as 7-9. Each robe has a label with the item number 2013NW081 and comes in different styles, including duck, monkey, princess cat, purple elephant as well as others. All of the robes have a hood and long sleeves.

Kreative Kids is offering a full refund to consumers who own any of the recalled robe styles. The CPSC is urging consumers to immediately discontinue using the robes and to contact the manufacturer directly in order to receive a full financial refund for the defective product. Consumers can contact the company directly, or lodge an incident or complaint with the CPSC regarding the product. Be careful, because a quick search on Google shows that many major retailers are still selling the recalled styles of Kreative Kids robes, even though a national product recall has been launched.
