“It’s easier to take than to give. It’s nobler to give than to take. The thrill of taking lasts a day. The thrill of giving lasts a lifetime.” – Joan Marques.
Each year, Galfand Berger makes charitable contributions to support the good community work of so many organizations. This month, we attended an event hosted by the Peggy Browning Fund. The event honored Joseph Lurie, former Senior Partner with our firm and founder of the Peggy Browning Fund.
Named after Peggy Browning, a prominent Philadelphia labor attorney and the first labor lawyer appointed to the National Labor Relations Board in 1993, the organization’s primary mission is to educate and inspire the next generation of legal advocates for workplace justice. The Peggy Browing Fund puts forth its mission by hosting workers’ rights conferences, fellowship programs, and networking events and by introducing law students to rewarding and exciting careers within the labor movement.
The organization’s most recent Impact Report (2022-2023) shows just how much it has made a difference in people’s lives. For example, the Peggy Browning Fund has awarded over 1,300 fellowships since its founding. In just a 10-year period, nearly 2,500 law students attended regional workshops. Our firm is a proud supporter of the Fund and its mission to inspire the next generation of advocates who will fight to secure workplace, economic, and social justice.
