$850,000 Settlement for Warehouse Worker in Conveyor System Accident
Case Summary:
Our client was a truck load laborer in a warehouse who was in the process of loading a truck using a conveyor system on the date of the accident. A back-up on the conveyor system occurred and our client was hit in the back when a load on the conveyor jumped the end-stop.
A thorough investigation by our products liability attorneys and their experts concluded that the conveyor system was defective as designed. During a back up on the conveyor, cargo could jump the system’s end-stop with sufficient force to cause injury to any warehouse worker who may have been close to the system. Our expert witnesses demonstrated that raising the end-stop by two inches would prevent cargo from being able to jump off of the system and cause injury, such as the one sustained by our client.
Outcome:
The defective product lawsuit settled before trial for $850,000. The case was handled by Philadelphia products liability attorney Arthur L. Bugay of Galfand Berger. For more information on this case, please call the firm at today at 1-800-222-USWA (8792).
