    Three Galfand Berger Attorneys Named as Top Lawyers in the Nation

    The National Association of Distinguished Counsel, or the NADC, recently named three Senior Partners at our firm as some of the top practicing attorneys in the nation. The NADC selected Debra Jensen, Richard Jurewicz, and Michael Malvey as recipients of its prestigious “Nation’s Top Attorneys” award for 2022. The Counsel names fewer than 1% of attorneys as recipients of the award, which is reserved exclusively for practitioners who demonstrate the highest ideals of the legal profession.

    The Selection Process

    The NADC is a professional organization that promotes the highest standards of legal excellence. The Counsel’s mission is to recognize attorneys who elevate the standards of the Bar and provide a benchmark for other lawyers to emulate. The NADC employs a rigorous, objective, multi-stage selection process in order to identify the finest attorneys in the country. Candidates must successfully pass through four stages before the Counsel selects them for its coveted award:

    • Stage 1: Identification by an in-house research team or nomination by current or former clients or practicing attorneys
    • Stage 2: NADC researchers thoroughly vet candidates via information sourced from their public profiles, client reviews, firm websites, and case results. The researchers also take into account other important factors, like an attorney’s leadership in legal organizations, education, trial experience, and involvement in their community
    • Stage 3: A blue-ribbon panel made up of distinguished attorneys selects which candidates will move on to the final stage of the process
    • Stage 4: A judicial review board comprised of former judges assesses the blue-ribbon panel’s candidates and renders its final decisions

    Debra Jensen

    When her fellow partners unanimously elected her to be our firm’s Senior Partner in 1999, Debra became one of three women who were the top managing attorneys at Philadelphia law firms. She has committed our firm to restoring the dignity and security of people who are victims of life-changing injuries through no fault of their own. As a Fellow in Temple University’s Academy of Advocacy, Debra practices in the areas of medical malpractice, products liability, and personal injury. Debra is also a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, has been selected multiple times to the Pennsylvania Super Lawyers’ list and in 2019, the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania appointed Debra as a Hearing Committee Member.

    Richard Jurewicz

    As one of Galfand Berger’s Senior Partners, Richard Jurewicz has successfully secured some of the firm’s largest financial recoveries on behalf of injured clients. With over 38 multi-million-dollar verdicts and settlements totaling more than $225 million dollars, Rick’s adversaries and opponents recognize him as an extremely, skilled trial attorney who tenaciously represents his clients’ rights. He has also been selected to the Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Top 100 lawyers list, and has been selected as a PA Super Lawyer every year since 2004. Rick handles construction accident, automobile accident, and catastrophic products liability claims.

    Michael Malvey

    Michael Malvey is a Senior Partner who has personally brought to verdict or settled over 250 cases exceeding $25 million dollars in combined recoveries. Since joining our firm, Mike has played an integral role in obtaining some of the largest, multi-million-dollar recoveries in Pennsylvania history. Not only does Michael handle construction site accident, medical malpractice, and premises liability matters, but he is also proficient in Spanish. He serves as Chairperson of the Board of Directors for Esperanza Immigration Legal Services and he also performs pro bono work for the Legal Clinic for the Disabled.
