February 1, 2013 – The Pennsylvania law firm of Galfand Berger is proud to announce that Norman J. Weinstein, Esquire, Of Counsel to the firm, was recently appointed to the Pennsylvania Office of Health Equity Advisory Committee. Members of the Equity Advisory Committee work together with the Secretary of Health on matters of health inequality. The Equity Advisory Committee seeks to increase public awareness of health disparities and to eliminate the disparities by strategizing to identify the conditions and the causes of the disparities.
The Equity Advisory Committee’s endeavors are numerous and important. The Committee identifies federal and private foundation funding that supports programs that address health disparities. It functions to support existing Pennsylvania programs that identify disparities, provide instruction, and distribute information about public and private resource programs to reduce and eliminate health disparities. In addition, the Advisory Committee members provide assistance and direction to the Governor on programs and activities that can hasten the elimination of the disparities of Pennsylvania healthcare.
For over 30 years, Mr. Weinstein has represented injured workers and disabled individuals in Pennsylvania. As a well-respected Workers’ Compensation and Social Security Disability lawyer in the Philadelphia area, he has a keen understanding of Pennsylvania’s health law issues and is focused on building a relationship between public health and public interest law.
