Partner Bradley Smith Teaches Seminar on the Gig Economy

Galfand Berger Partner, Bradley Smith, recently presented an updated panel at the Department of Labor and Industries (L&I). In the panel, Brad examined the growing trend towards workers laboring in the “gig economy” with a focus on employment status, worker safety, and insurance applications.

Gig workers often perform short-term contracts or freelance work as opposed to permanent employment positions. The gig economy is booming, with as much as 33% growth in one year’s time. Brad’s seminar took a closer look at how more workers are opting to make money through app-based platforms such as Lyft, Uber, TaskRabbit, and Handy.
