Galfand Berger Partner, Bradley Smith, recently presented an updated panel at the Department of Labor and Industries (L&I). In the panel, Brad examined the growing trend towards workers laboring in the “gig economy” with a focus on employment status, worker safety, and insurance applications.
Gig workers often perform short-term contracts or freelance work as opposed to permanent employment positions. The gig economy is booming, with as much as 33% growth in one year’s time. Brad’s seminar took a closer look at how more workers are opting to make money through app-based platforms such as Lyft, Uber, TaskRabbit, and Handy.
Brad has worked alongside other Galfand Berger attorneys to recover more than $25 million for our clients since 2015. Brad’s success as a nuanced litigator has led to his selection as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine in 2018, 2019 and 2020. Only 2.5% of all attorneys who practice in Pennsylvania receive this honor. Brad also serves as the Editor-in-Chief for the PA Bar Association’s Civil Litigation Newsletter and has published numerous essays and articles regarding the legal rights of injured workers.
