    Mike Malvey Appointed Esperanza Chair

    Philadelphia Personal Injury Lawyers celebrate the selection of Mike Malvey to Chairperson of the Board of Directors for Esperanza Immigration Legal Services (EILS). Galfand Berger is proud to announce that Esperanza Immigration Legal Services (EILS) recently appointed Michael Malvey to Chairperson of the Board of Directors. Michael has been a member of the board since 2013, first attending meetings through the Pennsylvania Bar Association Young Lawyer Division.

    EILS works to strengthen Hispanic communities through economic development, education and advocacy programs. Esperanza’s Board of Directors is made up of individuals who honor the non-profit’s mission statement – which can be highlighted in both their professional work and their dedication to helping underserved communities.

    Michael is a Senior Partner at the firm. He handles premises liability, automobile accidents and construction site accidents matters. Through his involvement with EILS, Mike has been able to provide low-cost legal services to immigrants and their family members throughout the Philadelphia area. EILS also helps individuals who need immigration assistance in the following areas:

    • Special visas for unaccompanied minor children;
    • Self-petitions for victims of domestic violence;
    • Naturalization (the process by which a non-citizen may acquire citizenship) and green card applications, and:
    • Family petitions (to obtain green cards or naturalization for family members of a U.S. citizen)

    Another important service that EILS provides to community members are classes to prepare for the U.S. citizenship exam. The non-profit also conducts workshops (in both English and Spanish) on emergency preparedness, financial literacy and debunking common immigration myths. All in all, the organization has given crucial, low-cost legal services to almost 1,000 immigrants – and helped 200 others acquire U.S. citizenship. As Chairperson of the Board, Michael will be working to sustain the organization’s goals, provide leadership and maintain the Board’s efficacy.
