    Galfand Berger Sponsors Golden Door Awards

    Golden Door AwardsOur firm was a proud sponsor of HIAS (Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society) Pennsylvania’s Golden Door Awards, which took place on May 24th. HIAS hosts the Golden Door Awards each year. The ceremony honors those who lead the way in support of immigrants and refugees.

    HIAS PA’s primary mission is to support low-income immigrants of all backgrounds as they build their new lives in our community. Through immigration legal services and an array of social services, HIAS works to address immigrants’ needs, defend their rights, and advocate for their equitable inclusion in all aspects of American society.

    For this year’s ceremony, HIAS honored three well-deserving recipients: H. Ronald Klasko, Esq., Nor Farida Ahmed Jamil, and the Philadelphia Federal Credit Union. H. Ronald Klasko is an advocate and immigration attorney. As a benefactor for HIAS PA, Mr. Klasko’s Ron Klasko Family Scholarships are vital for the non-profit’s immigrant youth clients who wish to pursue a higher education. Nor Farida Ahmed Jamil, a former client of HIAS PA, is a business owner and a community organizer. She opened her Halal grocery store in South Philadelphia; her business provides a welcoming atmosphere for refugees and immigrants. Lastly, HIAS PA honored the Philadelphia Federal Credit Union, for ensuring that refugees and immigrants in the Philadelphia area have the financial knowledge and the necessary resources to thrive.

    Galfand Berger Junior Partners, Farhan Ali, works directly with HIAS PA as a sitting board member on the Board of Directors. Farhan works with our firm’s personal injury department, handling automobile accident and premises liability cases. Farhan is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
