Each Thanksgiving season, our firm is honored to take part in 93.3 WMMR’s Camp Out for Hunger campaign. The campaign is the largest single location food drive in the world – and this year marks its 27th year of existence. Partner Michael Malvey has led the firm’s food drive for years. We are thrilled to announce that our team came together and donated a whopping 848 pounds of food this year!
The Camp Out for Hunger campaign’s primary goal is to bring good and healthy meals to individuals experiencing food insecurity. If you are wondering what food insecurity is, the Department of Agriculture (DOA) defines it as a lack of regular access to enough food for each person in a household to successfully live an active, healthy life. Food insecurity affects people from all different walks of life – people of different ages, genders, races, religions, and more.
For nearly three decades, local radio station WMMR has been teaming up with Philabundance, a local non-profit food bank assisting individuals in Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey, to amass donations from the help of businesses like ours and people just like you. This year’s numbers are in: the campaign received more than 1.6 million pounds of food (or over 830 tons!) and nearly $1 million in monetary donations.
Even if you missed the deadline for this year’s Camp Out for Hunger campaign, there are still plenty of ways you can show your support for people in need. If you would like to learn about you can help individuals in your community, please visit: https://philabundance.volunteerhub.com/vv2/.
