Galfand Berger attorneys Michael McGurrin, Bradley Smith, and Abigail de Uriarte attended PhilaPOSH’s 34th Annual Workers Memorial Day event on Friday, April 28th. The program honored men and women who lost their lives to a work-related traumatic injury or illness. Our firm proudly supports this important event because of our unending fight in the courtroom on behalf of all victims of workplace injuries.
Since first organizing in 1975 (and being one of only two organizations of its kind at the time), PhilaPOSH’s mission has remained the same: to prevent injury, disease, and death on the job through information, education, technical assistance, and political action. Comprised of unions, health and legal professionals working together to secure a safe and protected workplace, PhilaPOSH also advocates for the rights of injured workers.
PhilaPOSH’s annual Memorial Day program is the oldest and largest in the United States. The Philadelphia Council, AFL-CIO co-sponsors the event with PhilaPOSH. For its 34th year, the organizations joined together family members who have lost a loved one to a traumatic occupational injury or illness with unionists, community activists, and health and safety advocates who are committed to ensuring equal access for all to safe workplaces.
Attendees not only showed their support by purchasing tickets for the event, but some also opted to bestow someone else with a Memorial Gift. Memorial Gifts cover the cost of attendance so that families of deceased workers, youth workers, and injured workers are able to attend the event free of charge. A Memorial Gift also benefits PhilaPOSH and the Philadelphia Council, AFL-CIO’s efforts to protect workers on the job.
