Each year, our firm kicks off the holiday season by donating to 93.3 WMMR’s Camp Out for Hunger campaign, the largest single location food drive in the world. Our firm is proud to announce that we donated 906 pounds of food to individuals in our community – and for the second year in a row, we successfully broke our in-person donation record!
For the 26th year, Philabundance (a local non-profit food bank that assists individuals facing food insecurity in Southeastern Pennsylvania and South Jersey) teamed up with WMMR to help bring good and healthy meals to people in need. The organizations just tallied up their totals from this year’s donations, and the results are in! Altogether WMMR and Philabundance – with the help of people like you and businesses like ours – donated more than 1.7 million pounds of food.
These donations make a lasting impact on millions of people who experience food insecurity. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) defines food insecurity as a lack of consistent access to enough food for each person in a household to live an active, healthy life. It affects people of all different ages, genders, races and religions. Luckily, thanks to organizations like Philabundance and programs like the annual Camp Out for Hunger campaign, community members gain access to critical resources they need.
Don’t worry if you missed the deadline for donating to this year’s event – there are still plenty of ways you can help bring some joy and comfort to people in need. To learn more about donating food, you can visit: https://www.philabundance.org/donate-food/.
