    Galfand Berger Donates to 25th Annual Camp Out for Hunger Campaign

    camp out for hungerEach year, Galfand Berger employees begin the holiday season by donating to 93.3 WMMR’s annual Camp Out for Hunger campaign. The week-long event is the largest single-location food drive in the United States, with proceeds benefitting Philabundance, a non-profit food bank that serves Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley. Not only is the event the largest of its kind, but it is also a week-long live broadcast that features local and national celebrities, television personalities, athletes, and other hunger heroes who join the campaign in hopes of abolishing hunger and food insecurity.

    Our firm has proudly participated in the Camp Out for Hunger campaign for more than ten years. This year, our team successfully donated a whopping 832 pounds of food. Since the campaign first began in 1998, donations have grown larger and larger each year. Just last year, WMMR donated a total of 2,346,686 pounds of food and raised a total $1,047,527.00. These donations make a lasting impact in people’s lives, particularly those who struggle with knowing where their next meal will be coming from. Since beginning the campaign over two decades ago, WMMR has donated over 22 million pounds of food to Philabundance in total.

    Food insecurity means just that: not knowing when or where your next meal is coming from. Food insecurity affects people of all ages, religions, genders, races, and from all different walks of life. Philabundance and its member agencies donated over 52 million pounds of food to people in need last year; 324,000 pounds went to children’s programs, 1.7 million pounds were distributed to senior programs, and more than 80,000 volunteers assisted in feeding 135,000 neighbors in need each week. WMMR and Philabundance hope to increase their critical community outreach even more with every coming year.
