Every year during the holiday season, the radio station 93.3 WMMR hosts its “Camp Out For Hunger” campaign – and our firm is proud to announce that this is our 10th year participating in the important fundraiser. The campaign aims to reduce rates of food insecurity, which is the state of going without reliable access to food and other essential nutrition-based resources.
This year Galfand Berger staff members were able to rally together and donate the largest amount of food that they have so far: a whopping 665 pounds! This year’s total is more than 75 pounds higher than the firm’s previous record, which was set back in 2013. Staff members also supplied more cash donations this year than ever before. Altogether, our team donated more than 35 boxes and full cases of food to men, women, and children in need. In our ten years, Galfand Berger has donated nearly two tons of food.
Helping reduce rates of food insecurity is important – especially in cities like Philadelphia, where the rates are higher than anywhere else across the state. Donated food and money benefit a non-profit food bank called Philabundance, which serves more than 90,000 individuals every week. Most of the people who receive assistance are low-income, employed, single parents, veterans, and other people facing difficult times. No one should have to worry about where his or her next meal will come from, and the Camp Out For Hunger campaign is just one small step out of many towards ending food insecurity.
Do you want to find out more about 93.3 WMMR’s Camp Out For Hunger campaign or want to make a donation directly to Philabundance? Just last year the organization distributed more than 24 million pounds of food, and provided nutritious meals to an average of 33,000 children each week.
