Three Galfand Berger Attorneys Selected to the 2009 Super Lawyers List

Since 1947, Galfand Berger’s  personal injury attorneys have been working hard representing injured people and their families.  Recently, three of our attorneys — Debra Jensen, Marc Jacobs and Richard Jurewicz — were recognized for their achievements when they were selected to the 2009 Pennsylvania Super Lawyer list.  This selection is especially significant since only 5% of the over 34,000 Pennsylvania lawyers receive this honor!  And, to make this tribute even more extraordinary, attorney Richard Jurewicz was selected as one of the top 100 lawyers in Pennsylvania. It is no wonder Marc, Debra and Rick received this honor.  Their professional biographies tell stories of attorneys who work tirelessly for their clients:

Workers’ compensation attorney, Marc S. Jacobs is a senior partner at Galfand Berger. He has concentrated his practice on representing and protecting disabled workers. Marc has lectured throughout the state, and is contributing editor to PBI’s book Handling a Workers’ Compensation Case. He is a former Chair of the Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Section, and served on the Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice.  Marc served as the liaison to the Philadelphia Bar Association Board of Directors for the Workers’ Compensation Section, and is Chair of the Section’s Martha J. Hampton Memorial Award.  He also serves on the Governor’s Committee on Proposed Rule Amendments to the Workers’ Compensation Act.  Marc has previously been selected to Pennsylvania Super Lawyers for 2006 and 2008.

Over the last 25 years, Debra Jensen has achieved significant results for her clients.  She represents individuals and families experiencing loss as a result of medical malpractice and nursing home negligence.  She also represents victims of employment discrimination and sexual harassment. When her fellow partners unanimously elected Debra as their Managing Partner in 1999, she became one of three women who were the top managing attorneys at Philadelphia law firms. Debra holds memberships in the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, American Association for Justice, Pennsylvania Association for Justice, Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Bar Associations, Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association and the National Employment Lawyers Association.  Debra has previously been selected to Pennsylvania Super Lawyers for 2006 and 2008. Rick Jurewicz represents people injured by unsafe products and defective tools, equipment, and machinery. As a trial attorney, he is Board Certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Rick holds memberships in the Million Dollar Advocates forum, Outstanding Lawyers of America, American Association for Justice, Pennsylvania Association for Justice, the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Academy of Trial Counsel.  He previously has been selected to the Pennsylvania Super Lawyer’s list for 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.  Rick has recovered more than $100 million for his clients and, in 2007, he had two of the twelve highest Pennsylvania recoveries.  Rick not only has been selected for the sixth time to the Super Lawyer list but also received the distinct honor of being selected as one of the top 100 lawyers in Pennsylvania.
