May 2, 2013 – The Workers’ Compensation Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association recently presented the 2013 Martha Hampton Award to retired Galfand Berger partner, Marc S. Jacobs. Marc was recognized for his tireless advocacy on behalf of clients, mentorship to associates, contributions as a CLE presenter and lecturer, and his generous, compassionate spirit.

Six times selected to the Pennsylvania Super Lawyers list, Marc is a past President of the Workers’ Compensation Sections of the Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Bar Associations and was a member of the Governor’s Committee on Proposed Amendments for Workers’ Compensation Rules and Regulations.

He has taught at Penn State University and St. Joseph’s University and is a co-author of PBI’s publication, Fundamentals of Workers’ Compensation. He is a past President of the Merion Park Civic Association and is on its Board of Directors. He has also volunteered as a “bedside buddy” at Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania and he has recorded audio books for the blind.

The Martha Hampton Award is named after the former partner of Galfand Berger LLP who displayed an exemplary commitment to protecting the rights of injured workers. It is presented each year to the attorney or judge who best exemplifies Ms. Hampton’s dedication, professionalism and good will. A donation, in the recipient’s name, is made each year to Kids’ Chance.

Marc received the award at a luncheon on Thursday, April 11, 2013.
