Philadelphia Products Liability Lawyers: Product Recall on Children’s Mobiles

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (USCPSC) recently initiated a product recall on Restoration Hardware’s (RH) Baby & Child Mobiles. The vintage-style mobiles have hanging toy cars on them, and reports have indicated that when the wheels detach from the cars they can fall, creating a dangerous choking hazard for infants and children.

Luckily for consumers, the recall was launched before any instances of serious injury or death occurred. But, because the product causes a choking hazard, should a consumer own the product, it needs to be discontinued from use immediately.

The affected mobile models, which are decorative items that consumers attach to their ceilings and have six wooden, vintage cars with wheels, were manufactured and sold between October of 2014 and October 2016. They cost roughly $50. The mobiles were sold in stores throughout the country as well as online through RH’s consumer website.

So far, there has been one report of a wheel detaching from the mobile and falling. Luckily, no child has been harmed by the product defect yet, though the report was concerning and serious enough to warrant a widespread and fast track product recall. With the health and safety of babies and children at risk, RH along with the USCPSC is attempting to alert consumers to this danger, and fully remove the vintage-style mobiles from the market.

If you own one of RH’s Baby & Child Mobiles, please take it down and stop using it right away. Consumers can contact Restoration Hardware directly, to obtain a refund, or can go into the store to return the product.
