In September 2025, Gabriela G. Raful, Esq., together with fellow members of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s (PBA) Workers’ Compensation Section, developed and presented a Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program titled “Workers with Unknown Legal Status.” The program was recently recognized with the PBA’s 2026 Outstanding Leadership in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Award, which Gabby accepted on behalf of the Section.
The CLE addressed critical and often underexamined issues facing injured workers whose immigration or legal status is uncertain. Through thoughtful planning, drafting, and presentation, Gabby and her co-presenters provided practical guidance to attorneys navigating complex intersections of workers’ compensation law, employment rights, and access to justice. The program emphasized ethical representation, equitable treatment, and the importance of ensuring that all injured workers—regardless of status—are afforded dignity and legal protection.
By confronting real-world challenges faced by vulnerable workers, the CLE contributed to a more informed and inclusive legal community.
