    DIALYSIS PRODUCT RECALL

    GranuFlo® and NaturaLyte®

    The FDA has issued a RECALL for Fresenius Medical Care North America’s dialysis products,GranuFlo and NaturaLyte Recall NaturaLyte® Liquid Acid Concentrate and Naturalyte GranuFlo® (powder) Acid Concentrate. GranuFlo® is manufactured by Fresenius and is used to provide bicarbonates during dialysis to neutralize acid build-up that occurs during the waste-removal process. GranuFlo® is used in Fresenius dialysis clinics worldwide, as well as administered to an estimated 125,000 patients in clinics operated by other providers.

    Many dialysis patients have suffered potentially dangerous heart problems after undergoing dialysis treatment with these products, including:

    • Heart attack
    • Sudden cardiac death
    • Cardiopulmonary arrest
    • Cardiovascular death
    • Stroke
