Every year, the non-profit food bank Philabundance organizes the “Camp Out For Hunger” campaign along with Preston and Steve from local radio station 93.3 WMMR. The campaign aims to combat food insecurity; at least 1 in 5 Philadelphians are food insecure, which means they are unsure of when and where their next meal will be coming from.
Rates of food insecurity are higher in Philadelphia than in any other city across the state but by making food and/or money donations, anyone can join the fight against this critical public health crisis and make a difference. A large part of our firm’s mission is to support community events, like this food drive.
In fact, this is Galfand Berger’s ninth year of participation in WMMR and Philabundance’s “Camp Out For Hunger” campaign. We are proud to announce that throughout our years of taking part in the annual drive, we have successfully donated over 3,200 pounds of food.
Philabundance serves over 90,000 individuals every week – 16% of which are children and 30% that are senior citizens. The non-profit food bank also helps thousands of veterans, single parents and low-income, working class individuals who struggle to make ends meet.
There’s still plenty of work to do to help food insecure families in your community. If you would like to help, you are able to make a 100% tax-deductible donation by visiting www.philabundance.org.
