Congress is Ready to Attack Your Rights: How to Fight Back

What happens when you are injured at work because of a defective machine or equipment?  What happens when you are in your car and another driver, texting on their cell phone, blows through a stop sign and hits you or your family?  What happens when you go to the doctor for a routine procedure that results in a medical mishap? The bills that Congress are about to debate will have devastating consequences for ordinary folk.  And, Congress is trying to do this as quickly and quietly as possible.  Each bill has been pushed through the House Judiciary Committee without any hearings taking place. This is why it is especially important to understand the bills and to take steps towards the protection of your rights.

If passed, the legislation would:

• Limit compensation for injuries caused by medical professionals, including doctors, hospitals, nursing homes, and medical device manufacturers, to $250,000.00, regardless of how much that injury devastated your life or the extent of bad behavior by the medical professional or company. ;

• Eliminate class-action law suits, which would essentially destroy the ability to bring the kinds of cases that keep consumers safe;

• Eliminate individual state laws regarding lawsuits and force all cases to Federal Court;

• Allow insurance companies to make “payments” rather than paying full compensation.

You can also contact Congress today, and tell them that they need to protect you and your family’s rights. It is important to voice your concerns to elected officials, telling them to vote NO on any and all anti-civil justice system bills.
