$184,500 Recovery for Dock Worker Struck by Tractor-Trailer
Case Synopsis:
Our client worked on and around the docks. He was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer, causing severe injuries in his low back and eventually requiring a double knee replacement.
Although the employer initially paid compensation under the Longshore Act, payments were stopped based on the allegation that our client could perform light duty work.
We filed a claim under the PA Workers Compensation Act and proved that the damage to his knees was work related and that our client needed pain medication due to the severity of the injury.
Outcome:
We negotiated a settlement for $184,500 with continuing treatment for client's knee injuries. Additionally, our client was awared Social Security Disability benefits.
