  • Case Summary:

Our firm represented a client who suffered severe injuries as a result of a dangerously defective stovetop coffee percolator.

The incident occurred when our client attempted to lift the percolator off the stove using its plastic handle, as intended by the design. As she did so, the internal basket and stand of the percolator catastrophically failed—erupting and transforming into liquified plastic. The molten material splashed onto her right hand and fingers, causing third-degree, full-thickness burns.

These injuries required extensive medical treatment and resulted in permanent scarring and functional limitations to her dominant hand.

Our investigation revealed that the percolator was improperly designed and manufactured, with materials that could not withstand the heat of normal stovetop use.

    Outcome:

Senior Partner Rick Jurewicz successfully resolved the case for $750,000.00, securing justice for our client and holding the manufacturer accountable for this preventable injury.
