  • Six Figure Recovery for a Hand Crush Injury

    Case Summary:

Our client worked on a box-forming machine. The machine jammed. After a co-worker pushed an emergency stop button, our client reached in to clear the jam. Unfortunately, the button did not completely shut down the machine. As a result, a metal plate on the box-forming machine moved back and pinned our client’s right hand against the base of the machine.

Our client suffered crushing injuries to his hand and wrist. He underwent several surgeries to help relieve his symptoms and had significant functional limitations.

Henry Yampolsky, a Senior Associate with Galfand Berger, LLP investigated this matter. His thorough investigation determined that the machine was defectively designed because the emergency shut-off switch did not fully deactivate the machine.

Not surprisingly, the machine’s manufacturer denied liability. Instead, it attempted to blame our client for his injuries.

    Outcome:

When presented with all the evidence, including the deposition testimony of our client’s co-workers and the deposition testimony of the manufacturer’s representatives, Mr. Yampolsky was able to resolve this matter for a confidential, six-figure settlement.

Mr. Yampolsky’s recovery is one in the long line of outstanding results that Galfand Berger, LLP has been achieving for its clients over the past sixty-five years. If you or someone you know has been injured, contact Henry Yampolsky at 1-800-222-8792 or email him directly at [email protected].
