On April 24, 2015 the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association presented the 2015 Martha J. Hampton Award to Lisa Eldridge, an associate at The Martin Law Firm. Former Governor Ed Rendell was a guest speaker.
Ms. Eldridge has practiced Workers’ Compensation law since 1988, representing employers, insurance companies and, now, injured workers. She has distinguished herself by demonstrating extraordinary professionalism and exceptional advocacy. Her commitment to civility and integrity in the practice of law and in her personal interactions has earned her the deep respect of her peers and the judiciary.
The Philadelphia Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Section was established in 1995 to address the specialized needs of lawyers practicing workers’ compensation law. The section maintains a number of committees providing opportunities for lawyers to learn and enhance their skills.
The Martha J. Hampton Memorial award honors former Galfand Berger partner, Martha Hampton, who was committed to the practice of Workers’ Compensation law. Martha’s interests went beyond the individual cases she litigated. Martha believed in the viability and importance of the Workers’ Compensation section of the Bar Association. She was a past president of the section and participated in activities as varied as writing informative articles for the Legal Intelligencer to testifying before subcommittees in Harrisburg on proposed legislation.
In honor of the Martha J. Hampton Award, the law firm of Galfand Berger, LLP makes a charitable contribution — on the Section’s behalf and in honor of the award recipient — to Kids Chance, an organization that helps youngsters who have lost a parent due to a work related injury gain a higher level of education.
