Each year, the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association (PBA) bestows the Martha J. Hampton award to an attorney or judge who best encapsulates the values that Martha cherished: a steadfast dedication to the tenets and ideals of workers’ compensation law, professionalism, scholarship, goodwill with her peers, and perhaps most importantly, an unending compassion for others. This year’s recipient of the award is Marla Joseph, Esquire.
Before she passed away, Martha was a Partner here at Galfand Berger. Not only did Martha leave a lasting mark on her friends and loved ones, but she left one on her clients and the legal community at large, too. Martha was also instrumental in forming the PBA’s Workers’ Compensation Section. The Section provides attorneys with opportunities to develop and fine-tune their skill sets and learn how to better serve their communities.
Marla Joseph concentrates her practice on workers’ compensation and Social Security disability law. For over a quarter of a century, Ms. Joseph has been advocating for injured workers and fighting to secure their rights. An AV-rated lawyer, Ms. Joseph is also a Board Member of Kids Chance of PA, an organization that awards scholarships to the children of workers who lost their lives or suffered from life-changing work injuries. Ms. Joseph also served as Chair of the PBA’s Workers’ Compensation Executive Council. During her tenure as Chair, she earned the PBA’s coveted Merit of Achievement Award. Please join us in celebrating Ms. Marla Joseph, Esquire, for receiving this year’s Martha. J. Hampton award!
In honor of this award and Ms. Joseph, Galfand Berger has contributed to Kids Chance of PA.
