Our firm is proud to announce that attorney Farhan Ali has been accepted into the Philadelphia Bar Association’s 2020 Board Observer Program (BOP). This award-winning program affords young attorneys the opportunity to learn about nonprofit management and volunteerism by serving as observers on a nonprofit board of directors. Notably, Norman Weinstein, Of Counsel at Galfand Berger, helped establish the program in 2011!
The Young Lawyers Division of the Philadelphia Bar Association (YLD), the Philadelphia Bar Association, and the Delivery of Legal Services Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association (DLSC) partnered to create the Board Observer Program.
Farhan has been assigned as a board observer to HIAS Pennsylvania, or the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society. This not-for-profit organization: “provides legal, resettlement, citizenship, and supportive services to immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers from all backgrounds to ensure their fair treatment and full integration into American society.”
In just one year, HIAS served nearly 2,500 clients and opened more than 3,300 new cases for individuals from 113 countries. One of HIAS’ core values is to “welcome the stranger”, which the organization does by providing an array of legal, social, advocacy, education, and citizenship services to people in need.
Farhan earned his Juris Doctor from Temple University’s James E. Beasley School of Law and his Certificate in Trial Advocacy and Litigation from Temple’s renowned Trial Advocacy Program. Farhan is fluent in English, Malayalam, and Hindi. If you would like to learn more about Farhan, please contact our firm directly.
