May 28, 2013 – Galfand Berger partner, Marc Jacobs, retired from day-to-day practice at the end of December 2012. Our firm considered how we should honor him. As many of you know, Marc has been a powerful voice in the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation community for more than 40 years. His contributions have led to significant protections for workers. What you might not know is that Marc also has a long history of community service. For example, Marc used to volunteer at the Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania (CHOP). In the evenings, after work, Marc would read to sick children or play games with them when a parent or other family member was unavailable.
After mulling over many ideas, Galfand Berger concluded that a gift directed to CHOP’s “Child Life Wishbook Fund” would be the best way to honor Marc. Our gift was targeted to purchase and fully stock the first of its kind “Bedside Buddy Cart” at CHOP. As you can see from the photos, the Bedside Buddy Cart is filled with fun games, crayons, toys, books, videos and so much more. It will entertain sick children and their siblings, especially as they experience a sometimes frightening hospital stay.
