Attorney Norman Weinstein:  Giving Back to Our Community

Posted on

Philadelphia Personal Injury Lawyer, Norman Weinstein: Giving Back to Our CommunityOften, our lawyers give back to the community and do not ask for acknowledgment.  Sometimes, we want to shine a light on their acts of kindness, if not only for their good deeds but also to bring attention to some worthy organizations.

Recently, we learned that Norm Weinstein has been spending one morning a week volunteering at a local food pantry called Loaves and Fishes. This is in addition to Norm’s busy work schedule and his other volunteer work on behalf of underprivileged and underserved communities.

The Loaves and Fishes food pantry serves more than 12,000 individuals every year, packing healthy boxes of food for families who are in need.

Norm’s commitment to serving the community at the food pantry will be helping families who fall below the U.S. government guidelines for poverty. This means that many of the families who visit the food pantry are surviving off of $700 or less every month. According to Loaves and Fishes, roughly 35% of their clients for the food pantry are physically or mentally disabled, which means they may never be able to successfully return to work.

The food pantry serves people regardless of disability, national origin, sex, age, race and color. The pantry also launches community events annually, such as a winter coat drive, a pet food program and a back to school bag program.

Norm has a solid history of community involvement; he has performed pro bono work for the Legal Clinic for the Disabled, the Philadelphia Volunteers for the Indigent Program (VIP) as well as the Support Center for Child Advocates. Along with other volunteers at Loaves and Fishes, Norm will be helping pack food boxes that will provide every family member in need with three meals a day.
